I've seen a lot of fun blogs lately. I can't get over at how many beautiful crafty talented people there are out there. I love the blogging community and the hundreds of ideas available to us. I've been looking for chore chart ideas and I think I know what I want to do but just haven't crossed that off my list yet. In my search I found a cute blog called The Crafting Chicks. They are a group of friends that share the blog posting all their gorgeous crafting ideas. If you're feeling like you need a project then head on over and check it out! Here are a few things that caught my eye.

I love this idea! It is a summer merit badge program! Check out the post here, but in general it is a list of tasks for your child to learn to earn "badges" for the summer. Love it!

Here is another fun summertime post with ideas on keeping the kids busy.

They have lots of cute Father's Day ideas on their home page. I love this little board. I think my kiddos would love to draw dad a picture or write a little note to him.

They feature a lot of other crafters and blogs too. Seriously, their blog is a plethora of ideas. Check it out!!! Have a happy Friday! I love Friday. It's movie night at our house! :)

Being on the JS.com creative team gives me the opportunity to be surrounded by talented beautiful ladies. Seriously, their skills amaze me. And some of these ladies crank out gorgeous pages so stinkin' fast! Anyway, one of my fellow CT members inspires me over and over again. Even before she was selected to be part of the team her layouts would always stick out to me in the general gallery. I was so happy I would get to work with her when she was selected. Since then, I have become a blog stalker.

There is a lot I love about Mindy. Not only is she amazingly creative in the scrapbooking area, but she is a wonderful photographer, she sews (yay!), and she bakes (double yay!!!). This is my type of girl. Even with that her personality shines in her writing and she really is one of the sweetest gals ever. She is always full of compliments and builds everyone else up around her. Hopefully one day I'll have the chance to meet her in real life and we'll get to craft together. I wish we were neighbors! You can find her crafty blog here.

This is my all time favorite layout of Mindy's. Not only is Mindy a talented creative scrapbooker but she is an awesome photographer. Such a gorgeous photo. She captured that sisterly love. Love it. You can check out Mindy's photography blog here.

She made this mini album in the Mouse Paper Scissors class at JessicaSprague.com. Check out her blog for more details. It's gorgeous.

Are these not adorable? See! We would make great neighbors.

This is a gorgeous hybrid card. So cute.

She makes the cutest banners and holiday home decor. She's so creative.

I'm in love with this. Makes me happy.

Another stinkin' cute cuppie.

Anyway, if you're looking for some eye candy. Check Mindy's blog out. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Think Spring...won't be long! :)

How have I lived in this blogosphere for about three years and noone has pointed me to this fun blog. Recently I found Make It and Love It from another blog and probably spent a good hour (even though I should have been sleeping) looking around her blog. She has fun ideas and awesome tutorials. She has tutorials for anything from home decor, mod podge, clothing, to cake decorating and recipes. She is super crafty and my kind of girl. Here are some of my faves.

She has some great home decorating tutorials. These pillows are gorgeous. Tute here.

I'm in love with this skirt. That bow is to die for. Tute here.

This is a little girls dress made out of a women's knit shirt. This is something I would like to get better at. Instead of throwing so many clothes in the Goodwill pile, a lot could be repurposed. And look how cute! Tute here.

Check out Ashley's blog. It won't dissapoint. :)

Anyway, sorry I'm so late today. My dad has been here from Idaho visiting and it has been wonderful. He left today and it's so sad to see family go. I hate that we have to be so far away. But such is life. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

There are hundreds of free patterns and tutorials out on the web now. It's kind of exciting and probably giving some pattern companies a run for their money. My kids' Halloween costumes are semi-homemade this year and all I had to do was google "such and such pattern" or "such and such tutorial". Awesome. I love that. It makes sewing much cheaper when you can get a pattern for cheap or free. With the cost of fabric and the time put into a project, sometimes it's just not worth it to sew. You know what I mean? So with that, I wanted to point you in a few directions for free patterns, but don't forget Google. I love Google.

The blog has a million ideas. She links hundreds of other blogs with all kinds of ideas and patterns. The Train to Crazy.

The Simple Skirt

I have featured this blog before. I just love her ideas and her projects. She's pretty cool. She has a lot of tutorials. Craftiness is not Optional.

She shows you how to make your own pattern using your children's existing clothes.

This skirt is a re-fashioned adults skirt made into a girl's dress. Check out this tute. :)

Here is a tutorial for Baby Legs. You know those cute leg warmers for babies. This is from Little Birdie. I actually just googled this, because I couldn't find the original tutorial I had found. Super easy though.

There are a million tutorials online for a no sew tutu. I just googled this one too. I've made one of these before and they are super easy and very cute. This one is from Mama's Doodles.

Fun, fun! Don't buy expensive patterns until you check the net. Seriously, anyway we can save money. Right?!

Don't forget our Giveaway going on right now! Felt food is so fun. I made some for my daughter one year and it was suprisingly easy and adorable. I love it. She does a great job and her "food" is gorgeous and ecofriendly. How cool is that? Enter here.

Have an awesome weekend. And do something crafty!

I know this has nothing to do with food, but it is crafty and oh SO creative.  I came across this blog and have fallen in love with this mother and baby.  She did this as a hobby during her maternity leave.  She's amazing!  Go take a look at Mila's Daydream.  It will bring a smile to your face just like it does mine every time I see this sweet baby.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Friday Favorite...

Is it Friday already?! I don't know about you but the weeks are flying by for us. I've been seeing some really really cute Fall wreaths lately. I want to make one so bad but I'm having a hard time finding what I need in this small town. A lot of student doctor's wives wish for a mall in this town. I just want a craft store. *sigh* Anyway, check out these fun Fall wreaths. Let me know if you make one!

Of course I'm going to feature Martha. Here are two gorgeous wreaths from her website. I love that corn husk one.

This one is from Woman's Day. I love the color of this one. I'm not sure I would have the patience to make it though.

I love the spooky nature of this one. Really cool.

This one is so cool! It is just wrapped in yarn. I love the finished look.

Yay for Fall! Wreath making anyone?
Have a great Weekend!

Flowers, flowers everywhere. Yeah, I know it's officially Fall. I'm talking fabric flowers though and they really are everywhere. Flower accessories are big, and I've been wanting to make some for my lil' girlies hair. There are a million ways to make them so I wanted to show you a few tutorials out there so you can get going and make your girlie some fun flower accessories too. You can find tutorials all over the net and YouTube has a bunch of video tutorials also. Just google fabric flowers or anything close to that.

This one is by Maize in Montana. She is looking for the frayed look but you could also double the width of the fabric, fold it in half and stitch along the unfinished edge. You would finish it off the same way but you would have a cleaner look. Both are cute, it's just the look you're going for.

This one is adorable. It is by Pink Paper Peppermints. This one is a little more work but is adorable finished. You could probably layer 2 or three and have a fuller flower.

I've seen a few these lately and was happy to find a tutorial. This one involves fire. How cool is that? I found this tutorial at Craftaholics Anonymous. So many possibilities with this one.

This is a cute one. It is done by Wise Craft.

And this one is super easy and very cute. Tutorial is by Sugar Bee. (You will have to go to the link to see them, some people don't like to sharte their pics.) I know you've seen them around.

Anyway, I need some motivation to make some flowers so I am doing another GIVEAWAY. Yuppers, I'm making flowers and I'm going to give someone three different types of fabric flowers connected to an alligator clip. Sorry no pics, because they're not even started yet. lol. They will be cute, promise. :)

To be entered into our drawing you have to comment on this post and share our link on your blog or through facebook. We would love to have 100 followers. If we can get to 100, I'll give away 9 flowers to three different winners. This is kinda fun! The deadline for entering will be next Thursday Sept. 30th before midnight. Good luck, and thanks so much for all your support. Erica and I have loved doing this. It keeps us busy and close. We love that.

With that, have a great weekend. Enjoy yourself and do something crafty!

Friday Favorites

A couple of years ago when we cleaned out my Grandmama's home I found some vintage sewing patterns and a lot of vintage ribbons and trims mostly from the 70's. That is such an exciting find for any seamstress. I kept all the notions but only kept the patterns I knew I would make and of course have yet to make any.

Well, I came upon a blog called Sew Retro and was very intrigued. It is a blog of over 100 contributors who use vintage patterns and fabrics to make gorgeous outfits. It made me wish I hadn't given away a lot of those patterns. I love the 1950's designs. They make me think of my Grandma and what she would have worn to church or just doing her everyday housework. I love looking at old photos and am always interested in their clothing and the styles of the time.

Here are a few that I really liked. You can find them at Sew Retro but I will also credit the individual contributor. Enjoy!

This first one is by Susannah at Cargo, Cult, Craft. It is from a 1968 pattern and the dress started life as a tablecloth. Crazy but super fun!

This one is by Polly Esther of A Sewing Obsession. I love how this turned out.

This one is from Rhinestones and Telephones. This dress was actually inspired by June Carter. I love it.

Sew Retro is definitely going on my blog list. I feel inspired today. Have a great weekend!

Friday Favorites

Every Friday Erica or I will be featuring some of our favorites. It can be a whole blog, a specific post, a website, or whatever. Through out the week I've surfed some blogs looking for something that caught my eye. I went through some oldies but goodies and through five or six new blogs I've never visited before. I linked to Craftiness is Not Optional by I don't remember who and I read and read and loved so many things. Since I started digi scrapping and working full time, I kinda got away from sewing. Hopefully this year I can do more. I've missed it. Here are some of the things that made me happy browsing her blog. Check it out, and take a look yourself!

This dress makes me so happy. It's darling.

Such a cute skirt. Makes me want to get sewing.
She has a ton of tutorials on her blog. One being these seat belt covers. One way to dress up those car seats.
The felt food is to die for. So unbelievably cute.
She has a tutorial for the broccoli. :)
Thanks for the inspiration Jess!
Have a great weekend all!

Monica :)
